About CalligraphyToolkit
CalligraphyToolkit is a browser-based learning and practice tool for printable calligraphy guides. Beginners can start with a ready-made broad-edge sheet; experienced users can edit physical geometry and export PDF/SVG. The toolkit also includes simple OpenSCAD helpers.
Western pen and East Asian brush practice
The Latin generator uses measurable nib width, x-height, ascenders, descenders, nib angle and slant. Shodō, Chinese Shūfǎ and Korean Seoye modes deliberately use structural square/column grids instead, because brush traditions do not map cleanly onto broad-edge Latin nib-width geometry. Those grids are practice aids rather than universal historical rules.
Learn & articles
The Learn section contains multilingual, sourced articles on practice-sheet anatomy, nibs, Uncial, Italic, Foundational, Shodō, Chinese and Korean calligraphy, inks, paper, books and common beginner mistakes.
Presets and sources
Latin presets are pedagogical starting points and should be adapted to the exemplar or teaching method. The articles link to publishers, museums, manufacturers and cultural institutions so factual claims can be checked rather than treated as app authority.
Privacy and feedback
The generator stores recent settings locally. Aggregate traffic statistics use GoatCounter; the details are in the privacy page. Feedback is sent through a private Cloudflare → Activepieces route so the destination email and webhook do not appear in the public page.
Limitations
Calligraphy includes many historical traditions and teaching systems. Generated proportions, grids and 3D models are learning aids. Verify physical dimensions before printing or fabrication and use a qualified teacher or trustworthy exemplar for specialised historical study.
